When outsourced SAR services are useful
Extra support is most valuable when the request is large, the deadline is close or internal teams cannot pause their normal work. We can provide defined operational support without taking legal decisions away from your organisation.

Send us the details of your subject access request and we can assess the likely scale of the work. Where appropriate, we can review the data, explain the process and provide a fixed price and delivery date before production begins. This gives your team a clear view of cost, timing and next steps before committing to the work.
Example SAR Services Workflow

A client came to us after receiving a complex subject access request involving a large volume of emails, attachments and internal documents. They needed help understanding the scope, preparing the data and making sure the final disclosure was handled securely.
We started by confirming the practical requirements, putting the appropriate data sharing and processing arrangements in place, and advising on the search approach. The client then uploaded the search results to our secure encrypted portal.
After an initial survey, we provided a fixed price and delivery date. Once approved, our team reviewed the material, removed duplication, excluded out-of-scope content and applied the required redactions. We also shared progress updates so the client could see how the work was developing.
The final disclosure bundle was returned through the secure portal within the agreed deadline, alongside practical support on returning the information to the data subject.
Upon approval CCS made a start. After a short period they shared some output to reassure the approach matched our expectations. Our account manager kept us in touch throughout.
The finished data was loaded back to the secure, encrypted portal within the agreed deadline. All very efficient indeed. The page count was much reduced as duplication and out of scope documents had been removed.
CCS also provided a template letter for returning the request bundle back to the Data Subject.
Why Choose Content Capture Services for SAR Services?

Content Capture Services combines long-standing data handling experience with secure systems, trained staff and a practical understanding of UK data protection requirements.
Established experience
A repeatable SAR management process with clear reporting
If the records are already gathered and only require masking, use our SAR redaction services.
Secure handling
Data security is built into the way we work. Files are handled through secure transfer methods, with appropriate controls to protect personal information throughout the project.
Clear communication
You will know what is happening, what we need from you and when each stage is expected to complete. This is especially important when a subject access request has a strict deadline.
Flexible support
Some clients need full outsourced DSAR services. Others only need help with document review, redaction or preparing the disclosure bundle. We can shape the service around the level of support required.

Fully Outsourced SAR Services and DSAR Services
When a subject access request lands, the practical workload can grow quickly. Records may sit across email, shared drives, HR systems and archives, while your team still has a deadline to manage. Our outsourced subject access request support give you experienced, secure support across the request lifecycle.
Content Capture Services can help organise supplied data, remove duplication, apply the agreed scope, review documents and prepare a clear disclosure bundle. If you only need help with the masking stage, see our subject access request redaction service.
Expert support for each subject access request
No two requests are identical. A straightforward personnel file may need a different approach from years of email, attachments and third-party information. We agree the practical scope with you, work through the material consistently and flag issues that need a decision from your data protection or legal team.
Your organisation remains in control of the response. We provide the extra capacity and specialist review needed to make the process more manageable, with a clear record of the work completed.
A clear review and redaction process
Our team combines structured processing with human review. We can remove duplicate and out-of-scope material, identify information that may need protection and apply consistent redactions before the disclosure bundle is returned for your approval.
For searches that use DSAR terminology, our dedicated DSAR services page explains the same support in the context of a data subject access request.
Support for data controllers and compliance teams
We work alongside data protection, HR, legal, governance and information-management teams. You receive a named contact, agreed milestones and practical updates, helping you maintain oversight without asking internal staff to carry every administrative and review task themselves.
SAR Pages Considered & Redacted This Week...
Secure handling of sensitive SAR data
Subject access requests often contain confidential records and information about more than one person. Secure transfer routes, controlled access and careful working practices are built into the service from the start. We handle common formats including email exports, attachments, PDFs and document collections.
High-volume and complex SAR support
Large requests can involve thousands of files, repeated email chains, archived material and many review decisions. Our SAR support is designed to scale without losing consistency. A structured workflow reduces duplication and noise before reviewers focus on the records that matter.
The same approach can support one urgent case or an ongoing SAR management arrangement during peaks in demand. For confidential documents outside a subject access request, our document redaction specialists can help.
An experienced SAR support team
Content Capture Services has worked with sensitive information since 1997. We make the operational work clearer: understand the brief, handle the data carefully, report progress and return an organised output for your team to approve.
How the service works
1. We Listen, Scope and Quote
2. We Apply the Scope
Next, we organise the supplied material and apply the agreed scope of the request. Duplicate records, irrelevant documents and out-of-scope material can be removed where appropriate.
We then identify information that needs further review, including third-party personal data, confidential details and content that may need redaction before disclosure.
3. We Redact, Quality Check and Return
Finally, the reviewed material goes through quality checks before the final bundle is prepared. Where redactions are required, they are applied consistently and checked before the output is returned securely.
You receive the agreed disclosure files in a format that supports your response process. We can also provide practical guidance on the final handover to the data subject.
Frequently Asked Questions...
What parts of a SAR can CCS support?
We can support data organisation, deduplication, document review, redaction and preparation of the disclosure bundle. The exact work is agreed for each request.
Can you help with high-volume email and attachments?
Yes. We can work with supplied email exports, attachments and other document collections, using a structured process to reduce duplication and keep review consistent.
Who makes decisions about scope and disclosure?
Your organisation remains responsible for the response and legal decisions. We apply the approved scope and return questions to the nominated contact.
What is the difference between SAR support and redaction-only work?
SAR support can cover several operational stages. If your disclosure set is already prepared and only needs information masked, use our specialist SAR redaction service.
Why outsource SAR services?
Outsourcing subject access request support gives your organisation access to experienced support without pulling internal teams away from other priorities. It can be especially useful when a request involves high volumes of documents, sensitive data, tight deadlines or unfamiliar disclosure issues.
“Happy to give a testimonial. I have used Content Capture Services on numerous occasions and never had any issues with them at all. In all fairness, my requests have always been last minute with a short deadline, and they have always been able to deliver! They are a very friendly team and will always be upfront and realistic with time frames, the quotes I’ve received have never changed so we’re aware of the final cost before we enter into a contract with them.”

Subject Access Request News and Updates
Data protection rules, SAR case law and ICO guidance continue to develop. Our latest updates cover practical changes that may affect how organisations manage subject access requests, DSAR services and disclosure work.
DUAA Rollout Starts…
The ICO’s Phased Rollout of The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA) is underway —What Changes in Each Wave and What to Expect in Early 2026. This new legislation updates key aspects of data protection law, making it easier for UK businesses to protect people’s personal information while growing and innovating their products and services.
CJEU Draws the Line on Abusive SARs…
A new ruling from the Court of Justice of the European Union in Brillen Rottler could change how organisations handle Subject Access Requests under GDPR. The court has confirmed that some requests may be refused where there is evidence of abuse, drawing a clearer line around the purpose of access rights. The decision is already drawing attention across compliance and legal teams. But what does Brillen Rottler mean in practice for organisations responding to SARs?
Ashley v HMRC…
The judgment is significant as it is one of the few instances where a court has provided guidance on how a data controller should respond to a Subject Access Request (SAR), with Harrison v Cameron & Anor being another notable example.
Ashley v HMRC – How Mike Ashley moved the goalposts on data subject access requests.
